Azure's growth rate is the most direct comparison between Amazon AWS and Google Cloud, because Microsoft has not released revenue data for the entire cloud computing business.

Hood said the company expects Xbox game consoles to continue to be in short supply .
Microsoft Windows and PC sales revenue for the third quarter increased 10% year over year. According to data from market research firm IDC , affected by supply chain tightening, the overall growth rate of the global PC market is only 3.9%.

Hu De said the company's ability to exceed the overall growth rate of the PC market is mainly due to the improvement of Windows licensing business in the enterprise market.

Overall, Microsoft's revenue for the first fiscal quarter ended September 30 increased 22% to $45.32 billion, beating market expectations of $43.97 billion.

Net profit for the quarter rose to $20.51 billion, or $2.71 per share. The result included a net tax benefit of $3.3 billion, the company said.
