A new indexing protocol from Bing and Yandex called IndexNow
Bing : Webmaster the Tools ( Bing : Webmaster Center previously ) is a free service as part of a search engine Bing from the Microsoft , allowing webmasters to add their own web sites to the Tracker links index Bing , and the performance of their site (clicks and impressions) in Bing and more. See something. The service also provides webmasters with tools to troubleshoot problems with crawling and indexing their website, submitting new URLs, and creating a sitemap. Offer and take tools, website statistics, content delivery aggregation, new content and community resources.
Bing Webmaster Tools provides a number of features that can be accessed by webmasters as they verify the ownership of their websites using methods such as checking meta tags, adding a DNS entry to CNAME records, XML validation, and DomainConnect.
It includes the following tools and features to support webmasters to access data and manage their Bing sites:
- It lets send the URL to webmasters send thousands of URL in their own web sites for indexing faster. The number of URLs they can send can be up to 10,000 URLs per day.
- Crawl issues allow webmasters to detect potential issues with their websites, such as file not found error (404), blocked by REP, long dynamic URLs, and unsupported content type.
- Backlink data allows webmasters to access data about the links they point to. Part of this feature was acquired from Yahoo! Site Explorer .
- Advanced filtering allows webmasters to quickly zoom in on the results of their websites' reports to the data they need.
- Downloading the data allows webmasters to access the first 1000 results as a CSV file to analyze the results.
- The keyword research tool allows webmasters to find new keywords.
- Robots.txt Checker allows webmasters to check if a robots.txt file meets the standard.
- Markup Verifier allows webmasters to check if their sites meet W3C standards .
- Sitemaps allow webmasters to check if Bing is rendering the sitemap correctly.
- Outbound links Bing view allows webmasters to view outbound links.
Activate a new indexing protocol from Bing and Yandex
Yesterday on the Webmaster Blog , Bing announced a new protocol for indexing requests called IndexNow , which can be found using the standard URL structure /indexnow (can't put the link here, just add /indexnow after the regular URL). With this new protocol, you can send a request to index up to 10,000 URLs for a single request, which is also supported by Yandex . Even if Google doesn't join in, they'll probably do something similar because indexnow will be a new standard (or at least that's what Microsoft and Yandex want), so they may feel the need to catch up. This will also be something useful from GoogleAfter a very messy title update that changed titles and stuff without giving any value, that would be a nice one time change.
An open source feature still makes crawling fewer frequencies, Yandex and Bing are only the first two, and focusing on small search engines can still be a good source of traffic, since no one is focused on them. I mean 1000 visitors from Bing or Yandex for e-commerce is not a bad thing.
Is Google completely ignoring a new standard like IndexNow
Google cannot completely ignore a new open source standard that is being adopted by Bing and Yandex (which share 41% of all search traffic in the Russian Federazion region) and will be supported by sites such as eBay, LinkedIn , MSN and Github as well as Cloudflare and Akamai's CDNs ( Source: The first article from SearchEngineJournal that you can find by searching "Google indexnow"). Will Google adopt it? Maybe not. Will Google have to do something about it? Probably yes, granting major companies that offer API support for this protocol, also including Wix and Duda CMS. And what I wanted to say is that Google might do a similar feature in its name on it (because IndexNow is open source) and still adopt it, even if it would still be called a "Google Feature".
It's an open source project, not the "Bing protocol". They don't need to claim to have adopted the Bing protocol , they can still adopt it without saying so because it is not a proprietary Bing protocol. As I said, they can still do themselves with an open source project and they can still claim it's their "protocol", but they're still developing it from that project. Also, GitHub, Wix, Dura, Cloudflare, and eBay have more traffic to worry about, differently than Yandex.
Crawl is still perfect for many reasons. First of all, not many sites will know how to integrate this API into their code and make the required calls every time a new page is added. Remember that most websites are not run by people with a technical background and will not have the knowledge to integrate and submit.
There are also frequent failures in such a system. Without crawling, if your site fails to submit any new URL, it will never be indexed.
There are a million different open source standards. Most of them have never fished.
This is just an attempt by Microsoft to save themselves money by doing less work, and putting those expenses on others. It costs the website owner more in many ways, while lowering costs for Microsoft .
