Epic Games opposes Apple delaying antitrust ruling

Fortnite  developer Epic Games reportedly said Friday that the company opposes Apple's actions to delay antitrust decisions because the appeal process could be lengthy.

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers asked Apple in September to amend some App Store rules, including preventing developers from directing users to other payment options outside of Apple 's internal service system Which is a big win for Epic and other app developers.

Apple said earlier this month that it would appeal and asked Gonzalez Rogers to suspend execution of the order during the appeal period, but that appeal process could last more than a year.

Epic said in a legal document last Friday that Apple did not meet the legal criteria to suspend enforcement of the order. According to legal standards, Apple needs to demonstrate that even if a court order is denied in a subsequent appeal, the temporary execution of the order will not cause irreparable harm.

The company said Epic that Apple has shown positive comments after the court 's ruling did not require a delay in the implementation, which is enough to show that the company will not incur losses because of this.

From a public interest perspective, Apple's request should be denied ; A court order is the only way to effectively mitigate the situation.” Epic wrote , “History proves that in the absence of a ban, Apple will not make any changes .”

Apple has not yet commented on this.

The Court of Appeals will hold a hearing on Apple's request for an extension on November 9.
