The US company Facebook sued a resident of Ukraine, accusing him of stealing personal data of 178 million users, and the statement was sent to the Northern California District Court, TASS reports.

It is noteworthy that from January 2018 to September 2019, Alexander Solonchenko, known on the Web under the pseudonym Solomame , had access to a certain number of accounts and phone numbers. To do this, he used special software that automatically sends requests to people via the Messenger app , according to the complaint.

Facebook added that in May 2021, a Ukrainian sold the stolen data on a specialized online forum. The hacker is also accused of publishing the data of 10 million customers of Privatbank and a certain French analytics company on the portal for free.

The lawsuit asserts that Solonchenko violated the platform's terms and conditions of services. The company expects the court to order the man to pay damages and impose a ban on using the services.

Earlier, it was reported that the data of more than one and a half billion Facebook users got on the network and is being sold on a popular hacker website. The forum included the names, email addresses, phone numbers, user IDs of the social network and their geographic location. According to Telegram Mash , this is the largest and most significant "leak" of Facebook data in history.
