Scanner
A scanner is an input device that scans an image or an optical document, converts it into a digital file, and displays its output on a computer screen. It uses OCR technologies to convert images into digital files. The scanner is connected to the computer via USB.
Using a scanner directly enters information written on paper into a computer, which can be converted into digital form and stored in a computer. The biggest advantage of this is that the user does not have to write instructions.
There are different types of scanners-
- Flatbed Scanner - Uses a flat surface to scan documents.
- Flatbed Scanner - Similar to a laser printer in that paper is fed into the scanner.
- Portable Scanner - This is where the scanner is drawn on the page to be scanned.
- Card Scanner - Used to scan business card.
- Cylindrical Scanner - This scanner is used to perform high-resolution, detailed scans.
touch screen
A touch screen is an input device that allows users to select or enter a menu or object on a computer screen using their fingers. This touch screen is widely used in laptop screens, smartphones, tablets, cash registers, etc. It is also used nowadays in railway stations, metro stations, hospitals, shopping malls and ATMs. and so on.
Apart from the mouse nowadays, most electronic devices now come with a touch screen for navigation in the Graphical User Interface (GUI). For example, you can touch the screen, lock or unlock the phone, send emails, open files, play videos, etc. In addition, it can be used on many devices such as Smartwatch, Fitness Machine, etc. Used in digital camera, car GPS etc.

This barcode scans most of the image, converting it to an alphanumeric value, and this barcode reader is connected to the computer which is then displayed on the computer screen. It is a handheld scanner which is also included in the stationery scanner.
Biometric devices
A biometric device is also an input device used to enter biometric data into a computer. Biometrics is a device by which a person is identified by their biological characteristics such as fingerprints, eye corneas, facial makeup, a person's voice, etc.
Depending on the scanning features and capabilities of biometric devices, they can be of different types-
- face scanner
- handheld scanner

webcam
The webcam input device is the camera. A camera connected to a computer is called a webcam . A webcam is also called the camera we use to take pictures or video conferencing by connecting it to our computer or laptop. Connect the webcam to your laptop or computer by wire or wireless.
It can send or view live photos and videos to anyone anywhere via the Internet. Although many computer monitors and laptops come with a built-in camera and microphone, if your computer doesn't have this feature, you can use a separate webcam by connecting it via a USB port.
joystick
A joystick is also a pointing input device like a mouse. Where a stick of circular shape is attached. The wand fits into the socket which allows freedom of movement throughout. The movement of the stick controls the pointer or pointer on the screen.
The joystick is used to control the direction around the device. Also known as the control shaft. It is most used in video games. The joystick was invented by CB Merrick at the US Naval Research Laboratory.
